Power Vinyl 3

Listening notes

Power Vinyl 3 is a four-track vinyl compilation released by Bonzai Records in 1995, carrying the catalog number BR 95077. The release sits within the electronic, hard trance, and techno genres, three categories that Bonzai Records was actively working within during the mid-1990s.

The record is divided across two sides. The A-side opens with "Wayfarer (Mayday Mix)" at four minutes and fifty-seven seconds, followed by "Cinderella (Original Mix)" at five minutes and four seconds. The B-side shifts toward longer material, leading with "Organic (Love Mix)" at seven minutes and forty-one seconds before closing with "Destruction (Olympia Mix)" at four minutes and fifty-nine seconds. The parenthetical mix designations on each track suggest that alternative versions existed for at least some of these recordings, though no further detail about those versions is available here.

The total runtime across four tracks runs to just over twenty-two minutes, a relatively compact offering by compilation standards. The B-side's opening track accounts for a disproportionate share of that runtime, with "Organic (Love Mix)" running nearly three minutes longer than any other cut on the record.

Power Vinyl 3 was the third installment in Bonzai Records' Power Vinyl series, as the title implies, indicating the label had already established this as a recurring format by the time this edition appeared. Bonzai Records, a Belgian label, was a significant presence in the European electronic music market during this period.
