Roy Orbison
The Monument Vinyl Box

Listening notes

Released in 2013 on the Monument label, The Monument Vinyl Box (catalog number 88883761091) collects four of Roy Orbison's original Monument albums across four records — eight sides in total — in a single box set. The albums represented are Roy Orbison Sings Lonely And Blue, Crying, In Dreams, and Oh! Pretty Woman, each occupying two sides of vinyl and presented here in their original album sequence.

The set spans genres cataloged as country, pop rock, rock, and rock and roll, reflecting the range of material Orbison recorded during his Monument years. Across the four records, listeners will find well-known titles including "Only The Lonely," "Blue Angel," "Running Scared," "Crying," "In Dreams," "Blue Bayou," "It's Over," and "Oh, Pretty Woman," alongside lesser-spotlighted album tracks such as "Shahdaroba," "Summersong," "Nite Life," and "Yo Te Amo Maria."

The combined tracklist runs to 48 songs. Individual track durations are documented throughout, ranging from the brief "Blue Avenue" at 1:19 to "Yo Te Amo Maria" at 3:15, with most tracks falling in the two-to-three minute range characteristic of the period. Sides G and H, drawn from Oh! Pretty Woman, close the set with titles including "Borne On the Wind," "Leah," "Working For The Man," and "What'd I Say."

The box set format makes these four Monument LPs available together under a single catalog number.
