Distortions
Das Vinyl

Listening notes

Distortions released Das Vinyl on Electrophone Records in 2014, catalogued as ELEC07147. The record collects sixteen tracks spread evenly across two sides, placing it squarely within the intersecting territories of garage rock, new wave, punk, and rock.

The A-side opens with "The Lost Paradise Girls" and moves through "Secret Box," "Küss Mich," "Beautiful Skin," "Escalier," "Drinking Flowers," "Appartement," and "Test." The B-side follows with "Sauerkraut," "Tunnel," "Nightclub Dead," "Horizon," "Under Your Mysterious Window," "Cappucino," "Delay," and closes with "Rock." Track durations are not documented for this release.

A few observations can be drawn from the tracklist alone. The titles move between English, French, and German — "Küss Mich," "Escalier," and "Appartement" suggest a multilingual sensibility that fits naturally within the continental currents that have long run through new wave. Whether that multilingualism extends to the lyrics themselves is not confirmed here. The title Das Vinyl, itself a German-language phrase, underscores that tendency across the release as a whole.

At sixteen tracks, the record is a substantial offering for a vinyl format, with eight tracks per side. The absence of track timings in available documentation means the overall runtime cannot be estimated with any reliability.

The genre tags — garage rock, new wave, punk, rock — position the record within a broad but recognizable tradition that prizes directness and energy, though no further production or personnel details are available to anchor that characterization more precisely.
