Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds
Vinyl Singles Box

Listening notes

Released in 2012 on Noel Gallagher's own Sour Mash label, the Vinyl Singles Box (catalog number JDNCSBOX) collects five singles from Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds onto a set of vinyl records spanning sides A through J. The format brings together tracks that had previously circulated as individual releases, presenting them here in a single physical package.

The A and B sides open with "The Death Of You And Me" (3:29) and "The Good Rebel" (4:24). The second pairing offers "AKA...What A Life!" (4:25) on the C side alongside "Let The Lord Shine A Light On Me" (4:15) on the D side. The third record carries "If I Had A Gun..." (4:09) and "I'd Pick You Every Time" (2:11), the latter being the shortest track in the set at just over two minutes. The fourth pairing brings "Dream On" (4:29) together with "Shoot A Hole Into The Sun," which at 7:59 is notably the longest of the A-side and B-side proper tracks. The fifth and final record leads with "Everybody's On The Run" (5:31) before closing on the Amorphous Androgynous Remix of "AKA...What A Life!," a version that runs to 15:09 and occupies the J side alone.

The genres listed across the release are broad, encompassing disco, electronic, indie rock, psychedelic rock, and rock, reflecting the range of material gathered across the five singles. The inclusion of the extended Amorphous Androgynous Remix as a dedicated side piece gives that final record a notably different character in terms of running time compared to the rest of the box.
