The Story of Nacional Records Volume Uno (double vinyl)

Listening notes

Nacional Records released The Story of Nacional Records Volume Uno as a double vinyl in 2025 under catalog number NCL25001. The compilation spans four sides and twenty-five tracks, with a total runtime that stretches well past ninety minutes.

The label's own catalog classification lists an unusually broad range of genres: Alternative Rock, Electronic, Folk, World, and Country, Funk and Soul, Hip Hop, Jazz, Latin, Pop, Reggae, and Rock. That breadth is reflected across the sequencing. Side A opens with "Latino & Proud" and moves through "El Tesoro," "1977," "De Donde Vengo Yo," "Tijuana Sound Machine," and "Ciervos." Side B follows with "Fuego," "Radio Capital," a Sidestepper Remix of "A Eme O," and closes out with "Comencemos (Let's Start)," "A Cosa," and "Brillando." Side C carries seven tracks, including "10 Años," "Staring at the Ceiling," "Llueve Sobre La Ciudad," "You Where Never There," "Find a Way," "Lambo," and "Vengo De Engañarte." Side D closes the set with "Broasted or Fried," "Todo El Día En La Cama," "Lama," "Beyond Nostalgia," "Arenita Playita," and "Window Seat."

Track lengths across the four sides range from just over two and a half minutes, as with "Comencemos," to five minutes even, reached by "Arenita Playita." The inclusion of a Sidestepper Remix among otherwise undesignated tracks is the only remix credited in the tracklist as supplied.

The release presents itself as a document of the label's output, with the Volume Uno designation in the title leaving open the possibility of subsequent installments, though no additional volumes are confirmed in the available information.
