Prügelknaben (2)
Prygl På Vinyl: DK Punk 1979-86

Listening notes

Prügelknaben (2) is a Danish punk act whose recorded activity, according to the subtitle of this 2019 collection, spans from 1979 to 1986. Released under no label affiliation — catalogued simply as Not On Label with no assigned catalog number — Prygl På Vinyl: DK Punk 1979-86 compiles that period's material onto a single vinyl record in the punk and rock genres.

The tracklist runs to twenty-three tracks across two sides and offers a clear structural observation: several titles appear more than once. "Sick," "Pollution," "Ugly," and "Triste Arbejde" (listed as "Trist Arbejde" at A2 and "Triste Arbejde" at A9) each recur with slightly different durations, suggesting the collection draws from more than one source or session, though no documentation is provided here to confirm that. The A-side carries fourteen tracks, the majority running under two minutes, consistent with the compact formats typical of punk. The B-side's nine tracks are on the whole noticeably longer, with "Movements" at 4:08 representing the collection's longest entry and several others exceeding two and a half minutes.

The title itself, Prygl På Vinyl, translates roughly from Danish as "beating on vinyl," and the subtitle's explicit geographic and temporal framing — DK Punk 1979-86 — positions the release as a document of a specific national scene during a defined period. The self-released nature of the record, with no label backing and no catalog number, is consistent with DIY practices common in punk contexts.
