Lamb Of God, Burn The Priest
Hourglass: The Vinyl Box Set

Listening notes

Released in 2010 on Epic Records (catalog number 88697688201-OS1), Hourglass: The Vinyl Box Set compiles the recorded output of both Lamb Of God and their earlier incarnation Burn The Priest across six vinyl discs. The set draws from genres cataloged as death metal, hardcore, heavy metal, rock, and thrash.

The box set is organized into six sections corresponding to distinct chapters of the band's discography. The first, labeled Burn The Priest, occupies sides A and B and contains sixteen tracks, among them "Bloodletting," "Chronic Auditory Hallucination," and "Departure Hymn." The remaining five sections carry the titles New American Gospel, As The Palaces Burn, Ashes Of The Wake, Sacrament, and Wrath, representing the Lamb Of God portion of the catalog. These are spread across sides C through L and include tracks such as "Black Label," "Laid To Rest," "Walk With Me In Hell," and "Reclamation."

In total the set presents seventy tracks across twelve sides of vinyl. Notable inclusions across the later sections are "Now You've Got Something To Die For" and "Hourglass" from the Ashes Of The Wake portion, "Redneck" from the Sacrament section, and "Set To Fail" and "Contractor" from the Wrath section.

The box set title is drawn from the track "Hourglass," which appears at position G2 within the fourth disc. For collectors and researchers documenting heavy metal on vinyl, this release provides a comprehensive single-format survey of the band's studio work up to and including Wrath, structured chronologically by album across its six pressings.
