Jackson 5, The
Soul Source Jackson 5 Remixes 2 (Vinyl Three)

Listening notes

Released in 2001 on the Japanese label Polydor K.K., Soul Source Jackson 5 Remixes 2 (Vinyl Three) (catalog number SPJ-1008) is one installment in what the title indicates is a multi-volume remix series drawing on the Jackson 5 catalog. The record presents four tracks across two sides, each reworking a source recording under a distinct remix credit.

Side A opens with a DJ Spinna Mix of "We're Almost There," running six minutes and thirteen seconds, making it the longest track on the release. It is followed by a remix of "Good Thing Goin'," credited with an extended Japanese-language subtitle that translates roughly to a mix designation invoking notions of authenticity and judgment, listed here as version two of that mix.

Side B pairs a Justa Roots Rock Mix of "ABC" at five minutes even with a remix of "Ain't No Sunshine" under the credit SSY Mix, clocking in at four minutes and fifty-nine seconds. The inclusion of "Ain't No Sunshine" is worth noting for a fact checker, as that song is commonly associated with Bill Withers rather than the Jackson 5; its appearance here may reflect a cover version or an alternative recording within the broader Jackson 5 discography and warrants verification.

The genres attributed to this release — downtempo, electronic, future jazz, and house — suggest the remix series was oriented toward Japanese club and listening culture of the early 2000s, a context in which soul and funk reissues and remix projects were commercially active. Beyond these structural details, this draft makes no claims about personnel, sound, pressing, or the series' broader reception. A fact checker should confirm the "Ain't No Sunshine" attribution and verify any additional volumes in the Soul Source series.
