Dead Or Alive
Sophisticated Boom Box MMXVI (The Vinyl LP Collection)

Listening notes

Released in 2016 on Demon Records under catalog number BOOMBOX01LP, Sophisticated Boom Box MMXVI (The Vinyl LP Collection) is a box set compiling music by Dead Or Alive across nine vinyl records. The set spans material drawn from the band's studio albums, among them Sophisticated Boom Boom, Youthquake, Mad, Bad And Dangerous To Know, Rip It Up, Nude, Fan The Flame (Part 1), Nukleopatra, and Fragile, each of which appears to anchor a distinct portion of the collection's sequencing.

The tracklist is extensive, running from early album cuts such as "I'd Do Anything" and "Misty Circles" through to later recordings including selections credited to the year 2000, among them revisited versions of "You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)," "My Heart Goes Bang," and "Something In My House." The inclusion of those 2000-dated recordings alongside the original album sequences gives the set a broad chronological reach across the group's catalogue. Genres listed for the release are electronic, Hi NRG, and synth-pop.

The side designations across the nine records run from A through T, with certain positions — including those housing the album-title headers and the two entries marked "Continuous Mix" — left without individual side or track numbering in the available data. "Rip It Up" appears in the tracklist without assigned side positions, as does "Nukleopatra" when listed as an album header distinct from the same title appearing at position M1.
