Beta Band, The
The Three E.P.'s

Listening notes

The Beta Band's Three E.P.'s brings together the group's first three extended plays — Champion Versions, The Patty Patty Sound, and Los Amigos Del Beta Bandidos — onto a single vinyl release. This 2017 edition was issued by Regal Recordings on a double-LP set carrying the catalog number REG32VINYL, spread across four sides.

The tracklist preserves the original sequencing of each EP as its own distinct section. Champion Versions occupies the first side and continues into the second, opening with "Dry The Rain" at six minutes and five seconds, followed by "I Know" at three minutes fifty-eight seconds, "B + A" at six minutes thirty-five seconds, and "Dogs Got A Bone" at five minutes fifty-eight seconds. The Patty Patty Sound then begins on the second side with "Inner Meet Me" running six minutes twenty seconds and "The House Song" at seven minutes fifteen seconds. Side three is given over to The Patty Patty Sound's closing material, with "Monolith" running a substantial fifteen minutes forty-eight seconds, followed by "She's The One" at eight minutes twenty-one seconds. Los Amigos Del Beta Bandidos fills the fourth side entirely, comprising "Push It Out" at five minutes twenty-two seconds, "It's Over" at three minutes fifty seconds, "Dr. Baker" at four minutes eight seconds, and "Needles In My Eyes" at four minutes thirty-two seconds.

The release is catalogued across genres including Britpop, Electronic, Experimental, Indie Rock, and Rock, reflecting the range of approaches contained across the three original EPs. The total runtime across the four sides is considerable, with several individual tracks extending well beyond conventional single lengths, particularly "Monolith," which at nearly sixteen minutes represents the longest entry on the record.
