Alestorm
No Grave But The Sea

Listening notes

Alestorm's *No Grave But The Sea* arrived on Napalm Records in 2017, issued on vinyl under catalog number NPR 704 VINYL. The release places the Scottish band's pirate-themed approach to metal in a format that has seen sustained collector interest across rock and metal subgenres throughout the decade.

The record spans ten tracks across two sides, with Side A opening on the title track before moving through "Mexico," "To The End Of The World," the self-titled "Alestorm," and "Bar Und Imbiss." Side B carries "Fucked With An Anchor," "Pegleg Potion," "Man The Pumps," "Rage Of The Pentahook," and closes on "Treasure Island." The sequencing offers an even five tracks per side, a practical split for an album of this length.

Napalm Records has maintained an active vinyl catalog across its metal and rock roster, and this release fits within that broader output. The catalog number follows the label's NPR numbering convention. Genres attributed to the release span folk metal, power metal, and rock, reflecting the range of stylistic elements Alestorm brings to their recordings.

Track titles across both sides reinforce the nautical and irreverent character the band has built their identity around, from the straightforwardly thematic "Treasure Island" to the more blunt humor of "Fucked With An Anchor." Whether that tone appeals or grates will depend entirely on the individual listener, and this draft makes no claim either way.
