Frame (20th Anniversary Vinyl Edition)

Listening notes

In 2021, 12k released Frame (20th Anniversary Vinyl Edition) by Shuttle358, catalog number 12k2051. The release marks two decades since the original album and brings the work to vinyl across a double-LP format spanning four sides.

The tracklist runs to fifteen listed entries. Side A opens with the title track at 7:53, followed by "Out Out" at 5:22 and "Broom" at 4:07. Side B leads with "Fissure," the longest track on that side at 8:01, then moves through "Lyndon Tree," "Sequence," and "Hasp22." Side C carries four entries: "Calty," "Isonpgn," "Spiff," and a Hidden Track of 1:21. Side D closes the record with "Cavalry" at 7:20, "Cloud" at 5:58, and two alternate versions — "Lyndon Tree (Alt Version)" at 2:35 and "Calty (Alt Version)" at 6:32 — the latter suggesting the anniversary edition was configured to offer material beyond a straight reissue of the original program.

The total runtime across all four sides is substantial, with several individual tracks exceeding seven minutes. The genres listed in connection with this release — abstract, ambient, dub, electronic, experimental, glitch, and minimal — reflect the range of descriptors that have been associated with the work, though how those categories apply track by track is not something the available facts can establish.

12k, the New York-based label founded by Taylor Deupree, has maintained a consistent catalog focus on experimental and electronic music. Frame (20th Anniversary Vinyl Edition) sits within that catalog under the label's own numbering system at 12k2051.
